Dear Colleagues
Welcome to the 46th congress of the South African Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.

We look forward to welcoming you to Champagne Sports Resort in the heart of the central Drakensberg, with its unique beauty and spectacular views of Champagne Castle and Cathkin Peak.

With our theme”2010: A LARYNGEAL ODYSSEY” we invite you on a journey through the world of voice, microphonosurgery, laryngopharyngeal reflux and related conditions.

This year we also have a special programme on head and neck oncology which will run concurrently with the ENT and SAAA meetings under the auspices of the SA Head and Neck Oncology Society.

We are extremely grateful to all the International guests who have agreed to come to South Africa and share their knowledge with us. We are confident that with their range of opinions and approaches, they will stimulate debate, encourage critical thinking and help us cope with the increasingly difficult challenges we face in our field.Thank you to my colleagues on the organizing committee for their hard work and commitment in putting this programme together. It was really a wonderful team effort.

A great thank you to Eastern Sun Events, our congress organisers. Your professionalism and commitment deserves special mention as well as your patience with us.

We would also like to specially thank our Sponsors and Exhibitors for their financial and scientific support of our congress. We all agree that without them we could never have a congress at this level. Please visit their stands and exhibitions where you can view the newest advances in medicine and technology. Welcome to Congress 2010!

SAAA is very excited to welcome you all to the mesmerizing Drakensberg.

We would especially like to welcome our International and National Speakers contributing to the practical and academic sessions throughout the congress. In the dynamic field of Audiology it is important to stay up to date with the latest developments and it has been our goal to bring you up to date during Congress 2010.

We thank SASLHA for endorsing our programme and welcome our Speech-Therapy colleagues attending the sessions about voice related problems and therapy in the multidisciplinary team.

Our wish for Congress 2010 is that you will walk away enriched, feeling that it was time and money well spent.
